Lito Apostolakou
Lito is an historian, freelance writer and blogger. She has studied Modern Greek and Contemporary European History in Athens and London and holds an M.A. from Queen Mary College and a Ph.D. from King’s College London. Lito has taught in King's College and in Birmingham University and has worked as a researcher using various archival collections and historical resources in Greece and the UK.
Her articles have appeared in print in the Journal of Contemporary History; the European History Quarterly; the Philip’s Atlas of World History; the Modern Greek Studies Yearbook, University of Minessota; Greek daily Eleftherotypia; Greek historical journal Histor; and in the edited volumes: Greek Society in Making: Realities, Symbols and Visions (Ashgate Variorum 1997); The Greek World Between East and West, 1453-1981 (Ellinika Grammata 1999); and Volos 1881-1955 The Place and the People (2004).
Her blog Palimpsest is on writing instruments: Pencils, pens, inks and nibs in the past and in the present, in the hands of writers, artists and thinkers, in shops, in texts and in memory. Lito is active in the community of pen and pencil enthusiasts in the blogosphere and on Twitter.

An assignment on Nelson Mandela has been CNN-approved and appears on CNN iReport: "Nelson Mandela and the Unveiling of Celebrity."
Lito lives in London, UK.
